What is a Conflict of Commitment?
A conflict of commitment is a situation in which an individual accepts or incurs conflicting obligations between or among George Mason and other entities.
The University encourages faculty members to engage in Outside Professional Activities that contribute to the growth of knowledge or advance the mission of the University. However, a faculty member’s primary professional commitment remains to their university teaching, research, service, and administrative responsibilities. Outside Professional Activities that interfere with a faculty member’s, or a researcher’s, professional obligations to George Mason represent a conflict of commitment.
